Prof. Moner Bajunaid

Lone senatorial candidate of the Partido Demokratiko-Sosyalista ng Pilipinas

Moner at an early age already started to show interest in management. At age 14, he started running their diverse family business interests involving general merchandising, trading, retailing, agricultural farms and cattle production.

From 1971 to 1973, he was assistant manager of the Bajunaid Department Store. In 1987, he engaged in barter trading between Mindanao and Singapore and later, moved on to become administrator of the Bajunaid Farms and Properties up to the present.

From May 1996 to February 1999, he served as vice chairman of the Muslim Business Forum of SOCSARGEN. He also served as managing director/chief executive officer of Southphil Resources from August 1996 up to May 1997.

Proof of his effort to help in bringing development to Mindanao, Moner immersed himself to the concept of mutual economic progress among the people of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. He actively participated in every decision-making involving the BIMP East ASEAN Growth Area.

He is also chairman of the MILF technical committee on the current peace talks between the government and the MILF.

As he always puts it: "There can never be true development without long and lasting peace in Mindanao."
